Your data stays where you put it.

The application runs on your computer and keeps your data there. This website collects nothing about you. That is the whole policy; the rest is detail.

Last updated: 16 August 2026

In one paragraph. The GST Pragyan desktop application runs entirely on your own computer. The returns you load into it, the workbooks it writes and the drafts it produces never leave that machine. There is no account, no sign-in, no licence check and no telemetry. This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and uses no third-party web fonts, analytics libraries, advertising scripts or tracking assets. If you email us, we hold that email and nothing more.

1. Who this is from

GST Pragyan is an independent working aid for GST return scrutiny, published by its author and contactable at pragyan.gst@gmail.com. It is not published by, endorsed by or affiliated with any government body. It is an independent working and reference tool.

This policy covers two separate things, the desktop application and this website, addressed separately, because they behave quite differently.

2. The desktop application

2.1 What it processes

You give it files you have downloaded from the GST portal or prepared yourself. These typically contain a taxpayer’s GSTIN, trade name, invoice particulars, supplier and recipient details and tax figures. Under Indian data protection law such information may be personal data, and where it is handled in the course of tax administration it is also official information.

2.2 Where that data goes

Nowhere. Pragyan reads the files you point it at, writes its workbooks and drafts to a folder you choose, and does nothing else. Specifically, it:

  • does not upload returns, invoices, GSTINs, trade names or any figure to us or to any server;
  • does not require an account, sign-in, licence key or activation;
  • does not send usage statistics, crash reports or telemetry;
  • does not record who is using it: no name, office, file number or case register is collected, because none of that is needed to reconcile a return and an office’s own records are where such things belong;
  • does not need an internet connection to do any of its work.

The consequence is worth stating plainly: we never see your data, and we could not produce it if we were asked to.

2.3 What stays on your computer

Pragyan writes the workbooks and drafts you ask for, where you choose. It may keep small local files such as your last-used folder. All of it sits on your machine and is removed when you delete it. You remain responsible for that data: where you store it, who can reach it, and the departmental instructions that govern it.

2.4 Security

Because nothing is transmitted, the security of the data is the security of the computer it is on. Where the data is official, follow the instructions that govern it: keep the machine under your control, use full-disk encryption where your department provides it, and do not place workbooks containing taxpayer particulars on personal cloud storage or unencrypted removable media.

3. This website

3.1 What it collects

Nothing. The website does not require an account and does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking tools.

  • no cookies of any kind, including analytics or preference cookies;
  • no analytics, advertising pixels or tracking tools;
  • no advertising;
  • no contact form, comments or newsletter sign-up;
  • no public user accounts.

3.2 Web fonts and third-party assets

The site uses locally available system fonts through its stylesheet. It does not load web fonts, analytics libraries, advertising scripts or tracking pixels from a third party.

3.3 The calculator

The late fee and interest calculator runs in your browser. It does not send the dates or figures you enter to us or store them on our systems. Close the tab and the values entered into the calculator are no longer available there.

3.4 Server logs

The website hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP address, time, page requested and user-agent, for security and service operation. We do not control those logs, do not analyse them, and do not combine them with anything else.

4. If you email us

We receive your email address, your message and whatever you choose to include. We use it to reply and to fix what you report. Nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not pass your address on. The mailbox is hosted by Google, so Google’s terms apply to mail in transit and at rest. Ask us to delete your correspondence at any time.

Please do not email us real return data. If you are reporting a wrong figure, tell us the parameter number, the tax period, the figure Pragyan produced and the figure you expected. That is almost always enough. Do not attach returns, invoices, GSTINs or taxpayer names. Sending official taxpayer information to a third party may also breach your own departmental instructions.

5. Children

Pragyan is a professional tool for tax compliance and administration and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen.

6. Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights over personal data held about you. In our case the answer is short: the only personal data we hold is the email correspondence you have sent us, because the application transmits nothing and the website collects nothing. Write to us and we will tell you what we have, or delete it.

Where Pragyan is used on official data in the course of duty, the department, not us, is the controller of that data.

7. Links to other sites

Where this site links anywhere else, those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.

8. Changes

A revised policy will be published here with a new date at the top. If a change ever means the application or the site begins collecting something (which is not planned), it will be stated prominently and not buried in a revision.

9. Contact

pragyan.gst@gmail.com

No warranty. Pragyan is provided as a working aid, without warranty of any kind. Everything it produces is a reference draft. Every figure must be verified against the return, and every legal position against the Act, the Rules and the notifications in force, before it is put to a taxpayer.
